Give the Fallout Gift Everyone Wants, Mentats and Fixer Candy Tins

Become a Patron!
When you give someone this Mentats Fallout gift, you are giving them increased intelligence and perception. How thoughtful. Who wouldn’t be thrilled to receive that? And never mind the possibility of addiction, when you can just pop a few Fixer pills to get right again.

Or maybe it’s just candy. Either way, it’s a fun craft and a cute gift!

This video is one of a series of Fallout-themed projects.

DIY Fallout Gift

MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED

metal tins
artwork from craftymcfangirl.com
scissors
yellow paint
blue paint
light brown paint
mod podge matte
paint brush
red candy
Sixlets candies

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Open three boxes of Spree candy and sort out all of the red ones.

Paint tins with yellow and blue acrylic paint. It doesn’t matter how well you paint them, because you are going to make them look scratched and weathered later. Make sure to paint all around the sides and the bottom. Add a small border of paint on the edges of the front of the tins. Let the paint dry completely.

Add a protective coating of Mod Podge Matte to both tins. And make sure to let the Mod Podge dry completely.

Apply the labels to the front. Download and cut out the artwork. I designed these labels to fit three and a half inch square tins. If you are using an Altoids tin, there is lots of artwork online that you can find in that size.

Apply a thin layer of mod podge to the tins and carefully press down the labels. Let the Mod Podge dry completely.

Apply a layer of Mod Podge matte to the top of the labels. Don’t use too much or brush the label too much, or the ink will run and the image will become cloudy. Let this Mod Podge dry completely.

Use sand paper to scratch and weather the tins.  Then use a dry brush and light brown acrylic paint to add stains. Make sure your brush only has a tiny bit of paint on it so that you can scrub the edges and corners and get a dirty look to your tins. Too much paint on the brush will ruin the look you are going for.

Once the brown paint is dry, add a final protective layer of Mod Podge Matte over the top and let it dry completely.

Add red candy the Mentats tin and your blue candy to the Fixer tin, and your project is done!
