Make a Princess Merida Bow for your Hair or to Decorate Mouse Ears

This Princess Merida bow would be so cute clipped onto a pair of Brave themed mouse ears. Or do what I did and glue a barrette on the back to wear it in your hair any time. A large alligator clip would be perfect to use this bow both ways. Show your love of this Disney princess and the movie Brave when you proudly wear this bow, and remember, our fate lives within us. You only have to be brave enough to see it.

MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED

teal ribbon
metallic gold ribbon
a bear pendant or decoration
a barrette
or alligator clip
glue gun and glue sticks
scissors

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS

I started with a 3-inch barrette. If you want to make this bow to clip onto mouse ears, I suggest you replace the barrette with a large alligator clip instead. Measure the width of the clip and cut your ribbon three times the width. So, for a 3-inch clip cut 9 inches of ribbon.

You can use one really wide piece of ribbon for this or if you have more narrow ribbon like I did, I suggest you cut two lengths to give your bow some width. You can make yours as fancy as you’d like. Go crazy with your imagination.

Then cut one piece of the gold ribbon at the same length Hot glue the ends of your nine-inch, teal ribbon together at the center. Then glue those loops onto your barrette. I made mine crisscross just a little bit.

Next, use your glue gun to glue the ends of your nine-inch, gold ribbon together at the center. Then glue your gold loops across the front of your teal ribbon. You have three layers of ribbon now and you can add more if you want, but I decided to stop there.

Next, I cut a small piece of teal ribbon to create the center of the bow.

Glue the centerpiece on the back of the bow, underneath the bar on the barrette. Then bring it around to the front and glue it back around on the back again. Clipping away any extra ribbon.

As a decoration I chose to use a bronze bear pendant. I used jewelry making snips to cut off the top loop on the charm. Then I just hot glued it to the center of the bow.

And your Princess Merida bow is done. Ready to decorate a Brave-themed pair of mouse ears or to wear to the Disney parks or any time.
