Make a Vault Dweller Backpack Inspired by Fallout
A Vault Dweller Backpack is handy to have on your adventures in the Commonwealth. Have fun making this fast and easy project, then get out of the vault and have some fun in the wastelands.
Here’s the tutorial video
DIY Fallout Vault Dweller Backpack
MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED
light blue backpack
seam ripper
Xacto knife
cutting mat
fine tip marker
yellow fabric paint
paintbrush
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Start with a plain blue backpack and remove any extra elements from the front before you start. I used a seam ripper to remove this square from the front of my backpack.
Download and print out the pattern from craftymcfangirl.com. Trim out the numbers with an Xacto knife on a cutting mat. Use the pattern as a stencil to trace the number onto the backpack. Make sure it is centered before tracing around the numbers with a fine point marker.
The final part of the project is to paint in the numbers with fabric paint. You may want to trace around the edges to start. And then brush on several thin, even layers of yellow fabric paint. Let each layer of paint dry in between applications. Continue painting until you get complete opaque coverage. Once the final layer of paint is completely dry, your vault dweller backpack is ready. It’s time to leave the vault and have some adventures in the Commonwealth.
