We had so much fun at the Disney Halloween Party this year! We decided to go as Vanellope von Schweetz and Fix-it-Felix from Wreck-it-Ralph. And of course I wanted to share all the steps of our Wreck it Ralph Cosplay with you guys along the way. So get ready for a Sugar Rush as we make Vanellope’s candy leggings.

DIY Vanellope Leggings

MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED

white leggings
aqua paint
pink paint
liquid fabric medium
painters tape
paint brushes

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Put your leggings on and use painter’s tape to tape off the stripes. Spend some time to get the spacing even, and make sure the correct amount of the pattern will be shown above your boots and below your skirt.

Next it’s time to prepare for painting. Use large pieces of cardboard to stretch your leggings out for a smooth painting experience. If you have wrinkles when you paint, the stripes will not look neat when you are wearing your finished product. The cardboard will also prevent bleed through of your paint to the other side of your leg.

Use a pen to transfer your paint lines to the leggings.

Prepare your paint. Mix equal parts aqua paint and liquid fabric medium and stir until it is completely mixed. And then it’s time to paint the patterns. Use a hair dryer or heat gun to quickly dry each side of each leg as you work.

Once the aqua portions are complete, mix some fabric medium and pink paint to add the pink pin stripe details to the left leg.

The final step is to set your paint with heat. You can iron your leggings or throw them into a hot dryer. This will make the paint permanent and it will last though the washing machine.
