How To Make Dinosaur Taxidermy
MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED
wood plaques
dinosaur toys
E600 glue
brown paint
gold paint
gloss sealer
rotary tool
wall hanger
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Prepping the plaques: Start by priming your plaques with a base of brown. Next go in with dark brown on the bottom and light brown on the top to add highlights and shadows. I even mixed in a little black to give a deeper shadow at the bottom. After the browns have dried, go in with gold paint on the edges of each plaque. Then, use a black marker to outline the gold edgings, to create a 3D shadow. The final step for the plaques is to add a layer or two of gloss sealer.
Prepping the Dinosaurs: My first tip is to tell you not to buy the expensive, solid plastic dinosaurs. They are nearly impossible to cut in half. Buy inexpensive toy dinosaurs and cut them in half with a rotary cutter. Then sand down the toy so it sits flat on the wood plaque.
Attach Hangers: I attached wall hangers and raised them up a little bit with small washers. Mark the center of the plaque and then mark the spots where your screws go, and drill small holes in the marks. Then use a small washer under your wall hanger. This will raise your wall hanger up a small amount.
Glue on your dinosaurs using a strong glue, like E6000. Once the glue is completely dry, your dinosaur taxidermy is done and ready to be hung on the wall.
