Princess Anna shoes make a wonderful gift. My niece loves the movie Frozen. So, for Christmas I decided to design Frozen crafts with her in mind. These painted shoes were inspired by Disney Princess Anna. I can guarantee these Disney Frozen Anna Shoes make a great gift idea, because they were a big hit when my niece unwrapped them.

This project is part of my Disney Princess Project. Don’t forget to check out my other Disney princess-inspired craft tutorials, videos and posts.

DIY Princess Anna Shoes

MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED

White canvas shoes
Acrylic paint in Black, Royal Blue, Aqua, Bright Pink, Leaf Green and Metallic Gold
Paint brushes
Liquid fabric medium
A piece of chalk or a white pencil

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS

NOTE: Liquid fabric medium turns regular acrylic paint into fabric paint that won’t wash out. It will also make your final project a little more shiny and water resistant than regular acrylic paint.  It is very important to mix well before painting.

BASE PAINTING THE SHOES: Mix equal parts fabric medium and black paint and stir until completely mixed together. Paint the front portion of both shoes black. Leave an unpainted border around the stitching area. Paint only on the canvas – do not paint the rubber sides. Paint both shoes once, let them dry a little bit, and then go in with a second coat of paint. Once the paint is completely dry, begin the next color.

Mix Royal blue paint with fabric medium and paint the left side of the left shoe and the right side of the right shoe (the outsides). Paint both shoes once, let them dry a little bit, and then go in with a second coat of paint. Once the paint is completely dry, begin the next color.

Mix aqua paint with fabric medium and paint the right side of the left shoe and the left side of the right shoe (the insides). Paint both shoes once, let them dry a little bit, and then go in with a second coat of paint. Once the paint is completely dry, begin the next color.

GOLD BORDERS: Mix metallic gold paint with fabric medium and paint all of the borders gold. Paint both shoes once, let them dry a little bit, and then go in with a second coat of paint. Once the paint is completely dry, begin the next step.

ADD THE FLOWERS: Use the chalk to draw a pattern on the tops of both shoes. Try to make both designs as similar as possible. If you make a mistake, you can take a wet cotton swab and erase your error. Use the patterns on Anna’s outfit to inspire your drawing. Mix fabric medium and green, gold and pink paint and color the pattern. Paint the tongues of the shoes pink. Remember to apply two coats of paint.

Once the paint is dry, use a wet cotton swab to erase all of the chalk marks. And your Princess Anna shoes are done!
