Draw a Jack Skellington Face and Make a Jack Skellington Fan

Become a Patron!
It’s fun (and easier than you might think) to draw a Jack Skellington face, especially when you can create a Jack Skellington fan with a little Mod Podge and washi tape. This craft project is inspired by the black and white swirls in Tim Burton’s classic The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Here’s the tutorial video

What’s this? A Jack Skellington Bust Bank featuring the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town from Tim Burton’s ever-popular The Nightmare Before Christmas. It’s about 8 inches tall, made of durable plastic, with a slot on the back.

MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED

black clip-on fan
white washi tape
scrap of white paper
fine tipped black marker
small craft scissors
mod podge matte
paintbrush

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Take the cage off of the front of the fan and apply strips of white washi tape to the outer edges of each fan blade. Apply two strips of white tape. The first strip on the outer edges of the blades and a second strip about an inch down the blades. (After seeing my final results, I would suggest cutting this tape in half length-wise and putting more than two stripes on the fan as I show here. I would go with three or maybe four white stripes if I did this project again.)

Take a scrap of white paper and put it on the front of the fan. Run your finger around the front circle to crease the paper. Then trace around the crease . Now you have a frame for your Jack Skellington drawing.

Google Jack Skellington and find a picture you like. Trace or draw Jack inside your circle frame. Then use a fine tipped black marker to detail your drawing.

Trim out your drawing and place it on the center of the fan. Use a sealant like Mod Podge Matte to attach it to the fan.

Once the sealant dries completely, re-assemble the fan, and your Jack Skellington Fan is done.
