STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS

You can find images you like online or you can download and print out the pattern I used at craftymcfangirl.com. My sample pattern fits an Apple iPhone 5, but you can size the images to fit any case.

The first step is to seal the images so that the resin does not soak into the paper. You can do this with clear packing tape, or with clear glue or mod podge. Brush one or two coats of Mod Podge on the front of each image. Let the Mod Podge dry in between coats. To seal the back and make each image opaque, brush one or two coats of white acrylic on the back.

Once the paint is dried completely, it’s time to cut out Charmander, Charmeleon and Charizard. Use small craft or nail scissors to trim the fine details. It takes a bit of time but it’s worth the effort. Once your pieces are trimmed out, arrange them on the phone case the way you want them to look. Trim off the edges and carefully set the pieces aside.

Now it’s time to work with the resin. Make sure to wear protective gloves when working with resin. It can get messy. Mix together equal parts of resin and hardener. Mix part A and part B in an equal 1 to 1 ratio by volume. You do not need a scale to weigh this product. You can measure out the resin in two cups, and then mix them. Or you can mix both parts in a single cup with measurements on the side. Use a stir stick to mix the resin completely. This can take several minutes. Stir until there are no strings of unmixed liquid in the cup. If the two parts are not completely mixed, the final product will not cure correctly and may be sticky or soft.

Separate the resin into two cups. And add orange glitter to one half. Mix well and then spread the glitter resin over the entire surface of the phone case. Spread it carefully and try to make sure none of the resin spills over the edges.

Carefully pop any bubbles that may rise to the surface using a lighter.

Then position the paper pieces on top of the resin. Use your stir stick to push the paper and resin around until you get even coverage.

The next step is to add a thin layer of clear resin on top. Again use your stir stick to make sure you have even coverage and no edges are sticking up.

Once again, carefully pop any bubbles that may rise to the surface using a lighter.

The final step is to add glitter stars on top. I used a combination of yellow and orange stars. The glitter will fall to the bottom and become sealed in the resin.

Allow your case to cure for up to 12 hours, and your project is done.
